Period: 73 Class: 4A, 4B, 4C WEEK 19 Monday, January 13th 2025 UNIT 11: MY HOME Lesson 1(1.2.3) A. Objectives. By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) in which characters ask and answer the question about where Mary lives. - correctly say the phrases and use Where do you live? – I live _____. to ask and answer questions about where someone lives. 2. Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. B. Procedure: I. Warm-up: - Greet the class. II. New lesson: Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat. -Ask pupils to look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters and say what they can see in the pictures (e.g. 81, Tran Hung Dao Street, lockers, door, building). - Have pupils look at Picture a and predict when Mary’s birthday is. Play the recording and have pupils check the prediction. Repeat the same procedure with Picture b. - Play the recording again and encourage pupils to point at the characters while listening. - Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen, point at the sentences and repeat after each character in chorus and individually. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. - Draw pupils’ attention to the question Where do you live? and the answer I live in Tran Hung Dao Street. Tell them that they are used to asking and answering about where Mary lives. Activity 2. Listen, point and say. -Ask pupils to look at Pictures a and b and tell what the words and numbers on the places are about (e.g. the street name, the street / road number). - Play the recording for pupils to listen to and repeat the phrases under the pictures in chorus and individually until they feel confident - Draw pupils’ attention to the speech bubbles and elicit the missing phrases in the answer by pointing at Picture a. - Let pupils practise asking and answering questions in pairs. - Invite a few pairs to point at the pictures and ask and answer questions about where someone lives. Activity 3. Let’s talk. - Draw pupils’ attention to the maps. Ask questions to help them identify the names of the streets and roads, the house numbers and the houses without specific numbers. - Elicit an answer to the question and write it on the board. Get pupils to say the completed sentence. - Ask each pupil to choose a house on the map. Put pupils into pairs to ask and answer about where they live using the map. - Invite a few pairs to practise asking and answering questions about where they live in front of the class. Activity 4. Wrap up. - Ask pupils to share what they have learnt in the lesson. - Do exercise Unit 11 Period: 74 Class: 4A, 4B, 4C Monday, January 13th 2025 UNIT 11: MY HOME Lesson 1(4.5.6) A. Objects: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which the characters talk about where they live and tick or cross the correct pictures. - complete four gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues. - practise the target vocabulary and sentence patterns by playing the game Whispering. 2.Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. B. Listen and tick or cross. - Draw pupils’ attention to the pictures and elicit the names of the streets or roads, and the house numbers. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play the recording again for them to do the task by ticking or crossing the correct pictures. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers before checking as a class. Then draw pupils’ attention to the picture and elicit the number to fill in the gap. - Give pupils time to do the task independently. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner and check their answers before checking as a class. - Invite four pairs of pupils to act out four completed exchanges in front of the class. Each team makes a line. - Show a sentence to the last pupil of each team. Ask them to whisper the sentence to the next pupil. - The pupil continues whispering until the one at the front of the line gets the sentence. -The pupil at the front of the line shouts out the sentence or writes the sentence on the board - Play the game with other teams in the class. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge. - understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) in which characters ask and answer the question about what a place is like. - correctly say the phrases and use What’s the _____ like? – It’s _____. to ask and answer questions about what a place is like. 2. Skills. - Listening and reading, writing, speaking. 3.Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. 4. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. B. Look, listen and repeat. -Ask pupils to look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters and predict what they are talking about (e.g. Bill’s house, Minh’s house, the street, the road). - Ask pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen and check the prediction. -Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat after each character. - Invite a few pairs to the front of the class to listen to and act out the exchanges. - Draw pupils’ attention to the question What’s the street like? and the answer It’s a busy street. Explain that they are used to ask and answer about what a place is like. Activity 2. Listen, point and say. - Ask pupils to look at Pictures a, b, c and d and identify the places in the pictures. Have pupils describe what they can see in each picture. - Play the recording for pupils to listen to and repeat the phrases in chorus and individually until they feel confident. - Draw pupils’ attention to the speech bubbles and elicit the missing words and phrases in the question and answer by pointing at Picture a. - Play the recording for pupils to repeat the sentences in both bubbles a few times. - Let pupils point at the pictures and say the sentences in pairs. - Invite a few pairs to act out the exchanges in front of the class. Activity 3. Let’s talk. - Ask pupils to look at the pictures and elicit the phrase to describe the place in each picture. - Give pupils time to work in pairs and take turns pointing at the picture and asking What’s the _____ like? and answering about what the place is like. - Pupils can use the pictures or part of a picture to ask questions. For example, they can point at a street in the city and ask What’s the street like?. - Invite a few pairs to come to the front of the class and act out the roles. Activity7 . Wrap up. -Ask students to answer the following question: What have you learnt from the lesson today? -Do exercise Unit 11. Period: 76 Class: 4A, 4B, 4C Friday, January 17h 2025 UNIT 11: MY HOME Lesson 2(4.5.6) A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - listen to and understand two communicative contexts in which characters ask and answer questions about what a place is like and tick the correct pictures. - complete two gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues. - sing the song My house with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody. 2. Skills - Listening and reading, speaking and writing. 3.Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. 4. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. B. Play again for them to do the task by choosing the places the speakers are talking about. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner to check their answers before checking as a class. Have pupils read the sentence and guess the missing words. - Give pupils a time limit to read the gapped sentences, look at the pictures and fill in the gaps independently. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner and check their answers before checking as a class. -Invite one pupil to write the answers on the board. - Invite two pairs of pupils to act out the completed exchanges in front of the class. Explain that the first verse is about a house in a town. Have pupils listen to the first verse, drawing their attention to the pronunciation, rhythm and melody. - Ask pupils to listen to and sing the whole song while making gestures. - Invite a few groups to the front of the class to sing the song. The class may sing along and clap to reinforce the activity. Activity 7. Wrap up. -Ask students to answer the following question: What have you learnt from the lesson today? -Do exercise Review on workbook Unit 11.
