Period: 77 Class: 5A, 5B WEEK 20 Monday, January 20th 2025 UNIT 11: FAMILY TIME Lesson 3- Activity 1, 2, 3 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Correctly stress the correct words in Wh-questions in the questions 'When did they 'go to 'London? and 'What did they 'do in 'Finland?; - Identify and underline the missing stressed word in four questions, and to say the questions with the correct stress while listening; - Say the chant with the correct pronunciation, word stress and rhythm. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Phonic: 'When did they 'go to 'London?; 'What did they 'do in 'Finland?; - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss show their love and interest in outdoor activities. Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Responsibility: appreciate kindness 4. Competences: SS can develop some competences: - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, textbook, computer, projector, flashcards, recording III. METHODS: - Communicative language teaching, contextual teaching and learning, total physical response, games activities teaching, Model-Action-Talk, teaching methods by visual, direction method, audiolingual method. IV. PROCEDURE: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up: - Give two different coloured balls to two Ss, a red ball (ask the question) and a yellow ball (answer the question). - Ask Ss to listen to music and pass the balls. - Stop music suddenly. - The teacher raises a picture. Have the -Ss listen student with a red ball make a question. - Ss play game. Have the student with a yellow ball answer the question. E.g. Student A: What did your family do in Nha Trang? Student B: We swam in the sea. - Praise pupils if they do the activity well. -Ss open their book. -Say “Open your book page 10 and look at Unit 11, Lesson 3- Activity 1, 2, 3” 2. New lesson. -Look and listen. Activity 1. - 1. Listen and repeat: - Draw Ss’ attention to the question 'When did they 'go to 'London? Play the recording and encourage Ss to point at the stressed words in the question while listening. Explain that they are the most important words in the Wh-question and need to be stressed. Check comprehension. - Play the recording of the first question -Ss listen and repeat. again and encourage Ss to listen and repeat exactly. Do this several times until Ss feel confident. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. -Ss work in pairs or groups. - Have Ss work in pairs or groups, saying the words with stressed syllables and reading the questions until they feel confident. -Ss practise in front of the class. - Invite a few Ss to listen to and repeat the questions in front of the class. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Read and understand a paragraph about a family trip in the past by answering four questions; - Complete a paragraph about someone’s family’s weekend trip by writing the target words in the gaps; - Make a photo journal by sticking some photos/ pictures of the activities he/ she did somewhere with friends the previous summer, and tell the class about it. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening, writing and reading 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss show their love and interest in outdoor activities.
