Period: 115 Class : 5A, 5B WEEK 30 Teaching date: Wednesday, April 9th 2025 UNIT 17: STOTIES FOR CHILDREN Lesson 2 - Activity 4, 5, 6 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Listen to and understand a story and circle the correct answers. - Complete two gapped exchanges with the help of picture cues. - Listen to the song The Tortoise and the Hare, complete the lyrics and sing it with the correct pronunciation, rhythm and melody. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening, reading and speaking 3. Quality /Attitude: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to show their love and interest in reading books, especially Vietnamese fairy tales, recognise what the character is like. Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills 4. Competences: Ss can develop some competences: - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, textbook, computer, projector, flashcards, recording III. METHODS: - Communicative language teaching, contextual teaching and learning, total physical response, games activities teaching, Model-Action-Talk, teaching methods by visual, direction method, audiolingual method. IV. PROCEDURE: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm- up: 5’ Game: Brainstorming *Aims: to help ss to be happy and play game *Teaching techniques: - techniques in teaching playing game *Procedure: -T asks ss to tell about the a character in a story that they have learnt. -Ask ss to read again those words - Ss listen and do the task. -Say “Open your book page 49 and look at lesson 2 – Activity 4, 5, 6” 2. Listen and circle :9’ *Aims: to listen to and understand two communicative contexts in which Ss ask and answer questions about a character in a story and circle the correct pictures. *Context:Four gapped sentences with three answer options *Audio script: Once upon a time, there was an ant and a grasshopper. In the autumn, the ant worked hard to collect food for the winter. The grasshopper was lazy. He only sang and danced. Then, winter came. The Ant had lots of food. The grasshopper had nothing. The ant gave the grasshopper some food. The grasshopper thanked the ant and said: “I’ll work hard like you next year.” *Teaching techniques -Look at the picture, listen and - techniques in teaching listening answer. -individual, pairworks, using recording, pictures *Procedure: - Ask Ss to read the questions and the answer options. Have them work in pairs to guess the correct options. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Correctly repeat two Yes / No questions with the rising intonation. - Identify the intonation at the end of the questions while listening. - Say the chant with the correct pronunciation, stress and rhythm. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Phonic: - Is this your storybook? ↗ ; Are you reading a story?↗ - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss show their love and interest in reading books, especially Vietnamese fairy tales, recognise what the character is like. Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Responsibility: appreciate kindness 4. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills: - Listening, writing and reading 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss show their love and interest in reading books, especially Vietnamese fairy tales; recognise what the character is like. Check comprehension. - Have Ss read the central box: Character and elicit some storybook characters to write about. Then have them write the answer in the blank. - Give Ss time to do the task.
